Amabie (アマビエ) is a Japanese yokai described in 19th century Japan. The legend tells that the creature can cure plagues if it’s image is reproduced and spread (in the Edo period it was by block prints like these) In 2020 Amabie resurfaced as a subject for art of all kinds.
