Lameduck is the period of time after an election where the previous elected official still has power but their successor has already been elected (or will be soon). Politicians are sometimes seen as having less power due to their limited time left in office, but in Ohio, this means an absolute free-for-all hellscape of legislation. At this point in the General Assembly, there is nothing left to lose - they've already been elected back to the Statehouse, or they're out of there and focused on whatever their 'legacy' will be, and as such as free to make decisions with little fear of consequence. For example, 40% of all abortion bans in Ohio since 2011 have happened during lame duck!
